Scrub, exfoliate and discover your velvety skin!
Scrubbing consists of cleaning your skin with a product that removes dead cells accumulated on its surface. We also talk about exfoliation, scrubbing with an exfoliant, etc. Scrubbing activates blood microcirculation, skin cells are better oxygenated, better nourished. The dead cells that clogged the skin and blocked the pores are eliminated and it immediately becomes softer, brighter and benefits much more from the active ingredients contained in the care that we give it afterwards... With scrubbing, no need to wait months to reap its benefits, the skin is transformed in just a few minutes. When we tell you that you are going to get back to it! As for the right rhythm to scrub your skin, if it is of a "normal" nature then once a week is ideal. Far from being the sea to drink, is it not?
I have dry skin, can I still do scrubs?
A little you can! It is important to keep in mind that dry skin suffers from poor natural exfoliation. Dead cells tend to accumulate more than is reasonable, which makes the skin appear duller and prevents moisturizing products from penetrating the epidermis properly. As you will have understood, dry skin needs a little help, so exfoliate, but less often than if you had normal or oily skin: in your case, one to two monthly scrubs should do the trick. Be careful though! Choose gentle scrubs with very fine grains to avoid any irritation, dry skin, despite its crocodile appearance, is fragile skin that can quickly crack if it is overused. Exfoliation is a must for a good skincare routine, whatever your skin type. For example, oily skin can go up to two sessions per week, as its dilated pores are more likely to store impurities than dry skin. And after that, don't forget to moisturize with a cream or oil.
The different types of scrubs
Grain scrubs called "mechanical"
A mechanical scrub, but what's that? Well, it's the one that involves your delicate little hands, of course! By mechanical scrub, we actually mean the action of applying your scrub in the shower, or not (in this case, we'll talk about dry scrubbing) and rubbing your body or face using circular movements. You can choose to do it with your bare hands or with a horsehair glove.
For what skin type? Grain scrubs can be used by all skin types if the grains are fine. If they are too large and therefore too irritating, they are not recommended for very dry or very oily skin.
Black soap scrubs for natural care
Traditionally used in the Maghreb, black soap for the body is an excellent natural exfoliant. This exfoliating treatment is composed of crushed olives, macerated, then mixed with potash, it comes in the form of a brownish and sticky paste that adheres to the skin. It is applied in the shower (or in the hammam) after rinsing a first time. Leave on for 5 to 15 minutes then rub with a soft horsehair glove. Rinse and oh miracle, the skin is incomparably soft.
For what skin type? It is ideal for normal skin and is only used on the body (no horsehair gloves on your face, you poor thing!).
So-called "chemical" acid scrubs
Okay, we grant you, thrown out like that, the idea of a chemical scrub can be terrifying, but there is honestly nothing to shudder at. A chemical scrub is simply a scrub whose active ingredients act on the skin and rid it of its impurities. It can also be completely natural and be composed of fruit acids or even plants!
For what type of skin? Gentler than grain scrubs, acid (or enzyme) scrubs are perfect for fragile or sensitive skin. The absence of grains makes them gentler and less aggressive for reactive or even acne-prone skin.
So, are you convinced that a little scrub from time to time is only good? In any case, darling will be delighted to see you decide to finally leave your good old savannah!
